The Galleria (Gallery) behind Stoke Newington Library
Costs for hiring the gallery are £220 per week, £60 per day, or £35 for up to 4hrs.
The process is that people complete and return the attached form (email’s fine) and this then goes for approval to someone else in the council. Presuming it all goes through, you’d then need to pay a non-refundable 35% deposit, receipt of which confirms the booking. The remainder needs to be paid at least 7 days before the start of the booking.
Worth being aware the space isn’t suitable for anything at all noisy – parties, gigs, live music etc – or for events where tickets are sold on the door, or alcohol is sold. Also, worth bearing in mind we ask people to leave the walls in the state they’d wish to find them, and that all refuse/materials/rubbish etc have to be removed (or recycled) by hall users, as we get charged additionally for extra rubbish collection. There are no kitchen facilities.
People hiring the space do so in the knowledge that it’s an old building, and the roof, for example, may suffer from leaks if there’s heavy rain.
People making bookings have access during library opening hours, and outside that too if they book and pay for additional security in advance, at £15 per hour. Events with more than 70 people present also require an additional security guard to be present.
