At Cafe OTO

Hi thereAmongst the shows over the next seven days, we host a launch event for ‘Sound Within Sound: Opening Our Ears to the Twentieth Century‘, a radical new book by journalist and BBC Radio 3 broadcaster Kate Molleson, which fundamentally changes the way we think about classical music and the musicians who made it. As part of this event we’re delighted to welcome iconic folk singer, songmaker, activist and bona fide musical legend, Peggy Seeger, for a very special live set. This week, we’re also pleased to share a second batch of digital releases for Archive Officielle, a multidisciplinary platform and a physical archive founded in 2016 in Montreal, by S. Mercure. Its mission is to present conceptual work from international artists through a variety of publications and special projects. Detailed documentation for each project is physically and digitally kept in a sealed environment. The nature of these documents can vary; manuscripts, early drawings, scores, videos, early versions and unmastered music, notebooks, sounds, hand written notes, photographs, digital data, artist statements, written concepts, documentation on hardware and techniques, and so on. This archive is kept private. It can be used as a time capsule in order to leave a well-documented trace of the work and it’s related material.Take careCafe OTOPART-TIME CAFE VACANCIES:We are currently looking for part-time cafe staff (3-4 shifts per week) who are passionate and knowledgeable about music and food as well as having a broader interest in what we do here at Cafe OTO.
