Dear friends,

It’s hard to believe that we have been open again for almost six months – and what a six months it has been! We have welcomed thousands of you back, both inside the church and to our newly built outdoor venue: The Deck. If you’ve had the chance to visit we hope you’ve had a great time and if you haven’t yet, check out what’s coming up in our busy autumn/winter season. We’ve also launched a snazzy new website and created an audio trail around the Old Church with local community members and artists.

 Would you like to work with us?We are looking for a new full time Head of Programming to take over the running of the venue. We’d love to hear from you if you’re:passionate about the arts and creating communityefficient and organisedan excellent communicatorexperienced in working with volunteersYou can see the full job description here and we’ll need to receive your application by midday on Saturday 16th October to be considered. We also have a number of positions open on our Board so if you’d like to volunteer your time and expertise to helping our little organisation thrive please click here. Miryam SolomonA London-based artist, by way of Sweden and Eritrea, Miryam’s work is underpinned by her love for rhythms, vocal interplay and storytelling, and has been championed by the likes of Jamie Cullum and Moses Boyd.AuclairAuclair is a British-Rwandan music and sound artist. Her work explores rhythm, voice and electronica – treating everyday life like new mythologies and taking an embodied approach to exploring ideas with sound. HowlHowl are a collective of singers from a variety of different disciplines and backgrounds, from folk to opera. They came together in between lockdowns during the pandemic, gathering in parks or back gardens, singing together over the last year whenever and however they could.

 Enter The Bridge Realm is an immersive, AR (Actual Reality) music experience celebrating the launch of a new nature inspired concept album Wild Service by Stacey Cohen.You are invited to choose-your-own-adventure, before embarking on an audio visual journey around the wheel of the year.With kind support from the Arts Council.Stacey Cohen is an experimental music artist from London & Snowdonia who makes Bass Folk/Folktronica. Fireside folk, meets half step. A passionate sound hunter, nature lover & producer, Stacey incorporates recording experiments, found sound, & experimental electronic elements, within her tracks, & beats, to help to convey their stories. Celebrating electronic music as a form of folk music, storytelling & social commentary.
 On Wild Service: Martyn Ware, The Human League/Heaven 17, “Unique, mysterious, engaging and visionary compositions showing a fertile arrangement imagination. The listener is constantly surprised in a good way, the work of a true artist”Adam Walton, BBC Introducing:“I’ve not heard anything like that before, I’ve heard things a bit like it, a little bit Beth Orton in the voice, as if produced by Bjork, and that’s not happened to the best of my knowledge, every aspect of that is spot on” BOOK NOW

 Rapper & producer – Corin Liall Douieb AKA The Last Skeptik is undoubtedly one of the most infamous and incredible alternative hip-hop talents to come out of the UK. Having toured the world, playing festivals from Coachella, SXSW and Glastonbury to sets in sweaty clubs in Japan, Australia & India, composed for TV, a BAFTA nominated short film, adverts (for Rihanna’s Fenty, Mercedes and beyond) and theatre, host a successful podcast with Hollywood stars and made beats for the biggest names in the country such as Kojey Radical, Giggs and The Manor – now over 4.5 million streams later, it’s time for Skeptik to follow up the success of 2019’s ‘See You In The Next Life’ with another emotional rap chapter.BOOK NOWThe Old Church is all about growing communities and working together. We are on the lookout for people to volunteer at our events including a few next week… Volunteering is a great way of meeting people, connecting with the TOC team and hopefully sprouting friendships and collabs that feed our creative programme.
