Jazz on the Green

Dear neighbours,

We are incredibly excited that Jazz on the Green is back this Saturday, 31 July at 12-6 pm.

We hope you have seen our posters in the neighbourhood. Please tell your friends and share the event on your social media, linking to our Instagram.

We will have wonderful performers, children’s entertainment, stalls, food and drinks. As ever, you are welcome to bring your own food and drink to the park.

We’re particularly excited about the musical acts we have this year. Joining us we’ll have Hackney-based British composer and multi-instrumentalist of Nigerian and Jamaican descent, Roella Oloro, Venezuelan singer/songwriter Luzmira Zerpa, the North London trio Balkan Hot Club, originally from Turkey, Bulgaria and Greece, and Stokey local guitarist, singer and composer from Senegal Abdoulaye Samb. The event will be compèred by comedian Jayde Adams.

As well as Lizzy’s on the Green, we have a number of local food stalls including Laza, Curry Cartel, Paz’s Mexican and Ida Kitchen. Drinks will be sold by Lizzy’s, Railway Tavern, Snooty Fox and The Nook.

All stallholders will take lateral flow tests on the day and are being encouraged to wear masks. Each stallholder has completed a risk assessment that has been approved by Islington Council. We have hired two portable toilets for the Green and there will be hand sanitiser available throughout the park.

Because of the extra public health and safety measures this year, we need more stewards and first aiders than usual. If you can help out for an hour between 12-6 pm on Saturday, please email info@newingtongreen.org with ‘FAO Jenny’ in the subject line.

We are also in desperate need of a sound technician/engineer to help out on the day. If you know someone, please email info@newingtongreen.org with ‘FAO Lizzy’ in the subject line.

Bring your family and friends or come by yourself and say hello to our team at the Newington Green Action Group stall. We want to celebrate the way Newington Green has come together in solidarity over the past eighteen months and we look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
