Join us for a marathon livestream to celebrate our twelfth birthday!

Cafe OTO

Hi there

We’ll be playing DJ sets from OTO friends and artists from 8pm on Sunday night right through to Monday evening, when we’ll have very special live sets streamed from Lao Dan, Crystabel Riley & Seymour Wright, Lina Lapelyte and Tenniscoats, who played the first ever show at OTO back in 2008.

We’ll also be counting down to the close of our fundraiser auction at 11:59pm on Monday night. We’ve had some incredible lots continue to come in, from a signed David Shrigley print, to the original artwork for Richard Dawson’s incredible 2020 album, to a month-long residency at Nyksund Kooperative Studio Space in Norway, to a signed Steve Davis snooker cue!

As you can imagine we are under huge pressure at the moment and are working flat out to ensure Cafe OTO survives this. The impact of this situation is extremely acute for small venues like ours and we need all the support we can get to pull through.

Take a look at a selection of some of the most recent auction lots below or view the whole lot over on our auction page.

Much love to everyone out there.

Thanks again and stay safe.

OTO RECOMMENDS:

AMPLIFY 2020: Andie Brown

“I first became aware of 2019 Oram Award winner Andie Brown’s work over 10 years ago via her project These Feathers Have Plumes. Her work with glass and electronics, which she calls an “augmented glass harp” is at turns tremulous and resounding with a rich, calming quality. The piece she has created for AMPLIFY2020 (her first released piece in over 2 years) was inspired by the use of glass music by Dr. Franz Mesmer in “seances” for the treatment of hysterical women in the 18th century. Let it soothe your anxiety as you isolate at home.”

The Bagri Foundation – Open Call

The Bagri Foundation is pleased to invite submissions for a brand-new online commissioning series entitled At Home in the World.

The Foundation has been keen to start a digital programme for well over a year, and at a time when postponements and cancellations are taking place across the world, it felt now would be the best time to reallocate funds for a project that ensures Asian artists can continue to make work from home. Since we cannot currently travel to see art, this project explores the myriad ways that creative practitioners can engage with the digital.

For At Home in the World, the Bagri Foundation is inviting artists, writers, musicians, curators, filmmakers, researchers and academics to submit proposals to be one of five new online public commissions, to be presented across its online platforms.
