At Cafe OTO

Hi there

Amongst the shows at OTO over the next seven days, we’re very pleased to welcome back Astral Industries for another packed three days, after a truly memorable sold-out anniversary weekend last November. The line-up features numerous friends, family and label artists, including The Transcendence Orchestra (Surgeon & Dan Bean), Thomas Köner, Aleksi Perälä, Rrose, Korridor, and many more.

Three new ones from the solid Slovakian label mappa editions this week, continuing its focus on the physicality of sound in a landscape. Titles come from saxophonist Sébastien Branche, composer and founding member of the Set Ensemble Sarah Hughes and the duo of Jani Hirvonen and Johannes Schebler, ‘Grykë Pyje’.

Our fundraising auction has kicked off with many bids already placed. Check out the first batch of lots here and stay tuned for more!

Amongst the new show announcements this week, we welcome back the incendiary, brain-melting duo of Bill Orcutt and Chris Corsano, and host a very special residency with composer, clarinetist, singer & spiritual jazz soothsayer Angel Bat Dawid.

Full listings and all new show anouncements below. We look forward to seeing you here.

New CD release on OTOROKU, featuring two totally infectious sets from Decoy – the trio of John Edwards, Steve Noble and Alexander Hawkins – reunited with pocket trumpet and saxophone player Joe McPhee on the closing night of his four day residency at Cafe OTO.

In the eight years between the recordings which make up ‘AC/DC’ and their last release ‘Spontaneous Combustion’, Decoy and each of its members have been practicing individually at the very top of their form. Coming together again in such celebratory circumstances and in the good company of a fantastic crowd set the scene for a very special night.
