On 18,19th & 20th of December 1817 William Hone, antiquarian, bookseller and journalist was tried for Blasphemous Libel at the London Guildhall. The charges were a cloak for political repression and an attack on the freedom of the Press. Defying the instructions of the Lord Chief Justice, the Juries acquitted Hone each day. Come to his grave-side (Charles Dickens attended the funeral) and hear the amazing story which has caught the attention of Ian Hislop and campaigners over the last 200 years.
