Hackney Society event on Dalston on Saturday 8 June, 11am at Stoke Newington Library Gallery, Edwards Lane, N16

We’re delighted to be invited to host an event at the 9th Stoke Newington Literary Festival. Cultural researcher James Doeser will be asking three authors from our most recent book, Hackney: portrait of a community, to discuss whether Dalston’s rich cultural identity and social history can survive the future in the face of vast changes to its built environment. Local MP, Meg Hillier, historian Carolyn Clark and film-maker Winstan Whitter will also read from their essays in The Hackney Society’s 50th anniversary publication.

We’re in stellar company as the Stoke Newington Literary Festival has become one of the most eclectic, diverse and, frankly, FUN events in the literary calendar. Take a look at
the full programme, which runs the whole weekend or book tickets (£5) for Dalston Jam.

As a Stoke Newington Literary Festival event, no discount is available to members, sorry. The Literary Festival is a non-profit organisation which generates and supports a range of adult and child literacy projects in Hackney.
