Amongst the shows over the next seven days, we’re delighted to welcome one of the all-time great jazz pianists, Burton Greene, for a very special two-day residency. First gaining prominence on the New York scene in the 60s through his work with Cecil Taylor, Bill Dixon and Alan Silva, Greene has gone on to perform with a host of storied musicians, from Albert Ayler to Sam Rivers, Anthony Braxton to Archie Shepp, Rashied Ali to Patty Waters.
Five more digital releases this week from James Lindbloom’s Roaratorio, including the debut record from the now classic duo of Joe McPhee and Chris Corsano, sold out solo work from McPhee’s archive dubbed ‘The Lost Tapes‘, Lebanese improv from the “A” Trio and rehearsal tapes from the Sun Ra House from 1969. Dig in.
New announcements this week include a matinee show for Asiq Nargile, a first London show in 12 years for Yximalloo, a Contra Pop Festival primer with Flower-Corsano Duo and Alex Ward, and a special 9-hour Farmers Manual performance at the Brunel Tunnel Shaft courtesy of Silver Road.
