Submission of planning application for land on Wilmer Place, Stoke Newington (Ref: 2018/1510)
Casa Bella Developments has now submitted a planning application to
Hackney Council to redevelop the vacant former car park site at Wilmer Place, Stoke Newington. The site already has consent for a mixed-use development, which would have delivered eight
apartments alongside commercial workspace.
Since acquiring the site, Casa Bella Developments has worked with Belsize Architects to improve upon these plans. Utilising a smaller massing than previously approved, our new proposals will bring 19 high quality homes alongside 855 m² of workspace, suitable for uses ranging from creative industries to small businesses, and capable of
supporting up to 70 jobs.
In bringing forward these proposals we have consulted widely with local residents, community groups and the Council. In response to the feedback received we have made a number of changes to the scheme as a result:
20% of the workspace being provided will be affordable, double Hackney Council’s policy requirement
Breaks have been introduced in the building to allow for improved views and connectivity with Abney Park
Wildflower roofs will be used on the uppermost roof of the main proposed building, alongside extensive planting throughout the site, to encourage biodiversity
The proposed bin store has been redesigned to accommodate refuse from the nearby Cotton Exchange
The application will not result in the loss of any trees on the Abney Park boundary
