Hi there
Amongst the shows over the next seven days, American composer/performer Ashley Paulcelebrates the release of new album, Lost In Shadows, on Slip – an expansive, deeply personal excavation of recent motherhood, told through songs dissolving and re-crystallising at the threshold of free improvisation.
This week’s digital release is a Patty Waters set from two night residency at OTO last December. Accompanying her on double bass is Tjitze Vogel, and on piano is Burton Greene with whom she recorded ‘Sings’ for ESP Disk back in the 60s. Waters’ voice has shifted but her unique command remains. The trio hold the room on a breath as the deliver renditions of classics unheard anywhere else. Huge thanks to all three musicians.
We’re also pleased to release a bonus digital album today from Daniel Blumberg, alongside Ute Kanngiesser, Tom Wheatley and Billy Steiger. All members of the OTO family in their own right, the group casts Blumberg’s songs as through-ideas to weave four threads around. New material from their forthcoming album Minus – out 4th May on Mute Records – heard for the first time here.
