Amongst the shows over the next week, we have a fantastic line-up from Chinabot – a platform and collective created to change the dialogue surrounding Asian music. Positioned at the junction point between the influence of Asian music on contemporary/traditional sounds, music outside the mainstream and the development of experimentation, they work with composers, sound artists, improvisers and musicians to develop projects that rearrange the furniture of the musical world.
Pleased to add another sold out Confront title to the digital shop this week – this time from guitarist Derek Bailey and bass player Simon H. Fell. Performing on a hot and summery Wednesday afternoon in Mark Wastell’s old record shop, Fell and Bailey goad each other into some of the most impassioned playing heard from either artist. Footage of Bailey playing in the same spot exactly a month later will be screened for the first time at OTO on Friday as part of Confront’s event Three Presences, in celebration of the launch of a new Derek Bailey & Company CD – KLINKER. Dig in.
New show announcements this week include a show from Maryland-based artist, Mhysa, and a four-hour set from DJ Katapila.
