Cafe OTO

Hi there

Amongst the shows over the next week, Gavin Bryars presents A Man In a Room Gambling. A collaboration between the Spanish visual artist Juan Muñoz and Bryars, A Man In a Room Gambling comprises ten pieces on the art of slight of hand and how to cheat at cards. “A Man In A Room, Gambling is an extraordinary aural sculpture, the invention of a mental space which exists solely in the mind of the listener. There is a man in a room gambling in your head.” – Adrian Searle, the Guardian

This week’s digital release is a fierce first time duo from two of our favourite saxophonists – Mikolaj Trzaska & Seymour Wright. Brotzmanne-esque heft and gritty melodies from Trzaska, fused with Wright’s tonal punctuation packs this one full of intensity which escapes the routine.

New show announcements this week include residencies from A Hawk and A Hacksaw and Xylouris White, plus the return of The Experimental Library, this month focusing on the work of Octavia E. Butler.

Full listings below. We look forward to seeing you here.
