Amongst the shows over the next seven days, we host a matinee of Sun Dreaming – a new performance featuring New York based new age pioneer Laraaji and LA renaissance man Carlos Niño, two deep questing musicians who explore the outer reaches of ambient music. In this special extended set both musicians will perform solo as well as together in an intuitive flow of improvisation, song form and open-eared collaboration.
This week’s digital release is the second release in an on-going series from GUO – aka saxophone and guitar ‘duo’ Daniel Blumberg and Seymour Wright. Mutated recordings made with heavy distortion and extreme amplification are live processed and manipulated to create a sinister, metallic ricochet. Release includes an ekphrasis by Brady Corbet responding to the music. GUO will be playing in support of UP-TIGHT tomorrow night.
New shows announced this week incude Keith Tippett‘s The Rare Music Club – two nights specially curated by Tippett himself – and a new date for The Necks next March.
