The owner of a business has been fined almost £3,000 after dumping rubbish on the street.

Hackney Council officers found piles of black bags, cardboard boxes and other rubbish outside Premium Printing Limited, on Stamford Hill, in March this year.

Businesses have to pay to have their rubbish collected by the Council or other licensed waste carriers and store it in specially marked bags or bins. A notice requesting waste transfer documentation for the previous two years was served but the company was unable to prove that it had been disposing of its waste legally.

The owner of the business was prosecuted at Thames Magistrates Court on Friday 20 October with fines totalling almost £3,000.

Residents and businesses can help the Council crack down on fly-tipping by reporting it on the Love Clean Hackney app or reporting it on this website.
