Amongst the shows over the next seven days, we host two day residency from American electronic musician, Elysia Crampton. Crampton’s eclectic and unrestrained electronic music is the flashpoint of a myriad influences – underscored by radical and queer politics, Crampton’s experimental work gives sonorous form to contemporary expressions of Aymara resistance and survival. This residency marks the first fruits of a new collaboration between Elysia and multi-disciplinary Bolivian-American artist Donna Huanca.
This week;’s digital release is a joyous set from The Scorpios. We were delighted to have this Sudanese funk group return to OTO after their self titled album came out in spring on Afro 7 – a great new label that focuses on “new and old music from East Africa”, so we’re especially pleased to make this one available.
New shows announced this week include a return to OTO for Jacques Dmierre and Urs Leimgruber’s 6ix, plus a special installation in the Project Space from Alöis Yang to coincide with the Taiwanese Experimental Music event in the Cafe.
