Amongst the shows over the next seven days, we host a rare performance of Jon Gibson’s Meditations. Originally recorded for Philip Glass’s private press label Chatham Square and tracked after hours at John Lennon’s home studio, Visitations is a minimalist masterpiece. Gibson’s first release under his own name, Visitations is a departure from the structured repetition of his minimalist peers which takes the listener on an aural journey – spanning organic field recordings, flutes, percussion, synthesizers, and free-flowing textures. This week’s digital release is Alex Ward‘s debut release, originally released on Derek Bailey’s Incus label. Having first played together at Derek’s Company Week in the late 80s, the pair clicked on a punk tip, recorded this, and went on to found trio N.E.W. with with John Edwards, who have also enjoyed fantastic releases on Bo’Weavil & Dancing Wayang. New shows announced this week include eclectic and unrestrained electronic musician, Elysia Crampton, plus a rescheduled date for Stella Chiweshe, following her cancelled show earlier in the year. Full listings and all new shows below. We look forward to seeing you here. Cafe OTO |

NEW ON OTOROKU:
PAT THOMAS – THE ELEPHANT CLOCK OF AL JAZARI £15 (£13 members) Recorded live at OTO in May 2015 and mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi, the LP comprises four typically genre-defying and sonically dexterous pieces from one of the UK’s most extraordinary pianists. Criminally unheralded, Pat is a fearless and uncompromising player who – despite coming from a background of free improvisation and new music – can feel as close to the worlds of noise and experimental music.
