Come see the display showing how the Abney Unearthed project is progressing, with information about the various plot maps, the many burials and the different databases.

The Abney Unearthed Officer will also be on hand to answer any questions

Abney Unearthed Symbolism Tour – 11.30am to 12.30pm
Led by John Baldock

Join us for for a tour to learn about the various symbols on memorials. Broken columns, clasped hands, inverted torches and what looks to be a strange dollar sign…what do they all mean? The tour will also cover how and why the graves are numbered.

Meet at the Visitors’ Centre by the main gates on Stoke Newington High St.

Abney Park Trust’s Historical Tour – 2pm to 4pm
Led by John Baldock

Come for a relaxed and entertaining stroll around one of London’s most intriguing Victorian cemeteries and unique urban Nature Reserves. Learn about Abney Park’s rich history & biodiversity and about some of the characters laid to rest here…a female hot air balloonist, inventors, writers, a hangman and Bostock the lion tamer to name but a few.
