[10pm, Saturday 12th November 2016, The Glory, 281 Kingsland Rd, London E2 8AS]
Cat Call, a new night foregrounding female talent, is back once again at infamous LGBTQ+ East London venue The Glory on Saturday 12th November 2016. The forward-looking organisation aims to create a space for pioneering women musicians to showcase their talent, as well as prioritising women, especially women of colour.
Cat Call’s innovative approach means that each event will be curated around the artist, their genre, and their style. This unusual design is intended to embrace and celebrate the extreme diversity and versatility of women musicians in music today.
This month, off the back of an incredibly successful instalment last month featuring a stellar live performance from disco queen Gaff-E, Cat Call continues with a house music special curated around this iconic genre. Headlining will be hugely talented producer and musician Mwen, who will be headlining the night with her first live show in several years as well as gracing us with a DJ set. Other acts on the bill include Mica Coco of the Resis’dance Collective and our very own Gin, Director and Co-curator of Cat Call.
Mwen is a producer, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and DJ, who writes and produces her own style of soulful electronic music, encompassing an array of house, garage and EDM. . Her releases have been played on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, XFM, NTS, Rinse FM and supported by radio DJs including Rob da Bank, Mary Anne Hobbs and Tom Robinson.
