Cafe OTO

Hi there

Amongst the shows over the next seven days, we host Charles Gayle – saxophonist, pianist, double bassist, sometimes a clown and radical musical performer wrapped into the body of a humble person living in Downtown Manhattan since the 1960s. It is sometimes hard to predict what he will do on stage. In all his musical (and personal) life Charles Gayle has remained outside of any form of mainstream, carving his own singular path.

This week’s digital release is a set from from ex Overhang Party members Sachiko and Rinji Fukuoka. The two meet at the rich but blurry horizon of strings, electronics and rich vocals, and slowly pull apart their sound in glitchy, dissonant chunks. Strangly indulgant and ascetic in equal parts.

All of this week’s listings and newly announced shows below.

Hope to see you here.
