At Cafe OTO

Hi there

Amongst the shows over the next seven days, he great Ethiopian keyboardist and composer, Hailu Mergia returns to OTO, this time in a trio with drummer Tony Buck (The Necks) and double bassist Mike Majkowski. Mergia balances Ethiopian music’s signature melodic shape with beautiful analog synth touches, floating upon clouds of hypnotically minimal rhythm tracks.

This week’s digital download is a set from Morphogenesis – their live performance in five years. Live electronics, homemade instruments, vocal samples and environmental elements pique and glisten, happily unzipping forgotten senses and retuning your ears just enough to get you lost somewhere you’re sure you once knew.

All of this week’s listings and newly announced shows below.

Hope to see you here.

Cafe OTO

p.s. We are currently looking for part-time daytime cafe staff (3-4 shifts per week) who are passionate and knowledgeable about coffee with experience of cafe work as well as a broader interest in Cafe OTO and what we do. More information on how to apply here.
