At Cafe OTO

Hi there

Amongst the shows over the next seven days, we welcome back art-punk songwriter, firebrand musician and Evangelista leader, Carla Bozulich, back to OTO – this time for a very special two-day residency. Time and again Bozulich has headed up bands that sound like nothing else and arguably stake out genres unto themselves: the bent agit-prop of Ethyl Meatplow; the ferocious roots-tinged epic rock of The Geraldine Fibbers; the vocal-driven sound-art of Scarnella and Evangelista; and her large-scale performances including the ongoing Eyes For Ears series.

This week’s digital release is a frenetic set from Tatsuya Yoshida’s Ruins offshoot – Sax Ruins. Despite being absurdly technically demanding, Sax Ruins’ live set doesn’t let up for a minute. Structures rise and fall in seconds as multi-tracked brass swirls to meet what sounds like four Sonny Rollins behind the kit.

All of this week’s listings and newly announced shows below.

Hope to see you here.
