Amongst the shows over the next seven days, we’re hugely excited to welcome back the great American trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist and composer, Wadada Leo Smith, after hosting the European premiere of his phenomenal large-scale masterwork – the completeTen Freedom Summers suite – on his last visit here in 2013. This time around, Smith is joined by an incredible line-up of talented improvisers for distinct sets across two nights.
This week’s digital download release is a very special duo set from Keiji Haino and Steve Noble. While Haino theatrically sweeps between bleak and uninhibited paranoia, deep-level zoning and bluesy contemplation, Noble’s huge set up and graceful approach brings space, light and shade. You can listen to a preview of this and all of our other digital releases on our website.

While Haino theatrically sweeps between bleak and uninhibited paranoia, deep-level zoning and bluesy contemplation, Noble’s huge set up and graceful approach brings space, light and shade – so much so that at one point Haino unplugs his guitar and picks up a small wooden flute.
