27 July at 20:00–23:00
181 Stoke Newington Church Street, N16 OUl
A monthly night run by saxophonist Alan Wilkinson featuring improvising musicians of many ilks.
Tonight’s event is curated and hosted by multi-talented Ivor Kallin (he of Ambrosia Rasputin, London Improvisers Orchestra, 2:31, Barrel and a host of other kinds of fame). He will also be playing upright electric bass in Glowering Figs, one of tonights acts, with Dave Fowler on drums and Jerry Wigens on guitar, a splurge of free triodom not to be missed.
Also on the bill is the great Dave Draper who will be weaving complex electronic guitarisms into a satisfyingly drole whole.
And that’s not to mention Chromabergs, abstract expressionist poetry band extraordinaire led by artist/wordsmith Geoff Mowlam who is intriguingly supported in his post-postbox endeavours by Stanley Bad on bongos and xaphoon (and very likely other things) and Jerry Wigens on clarinets (and maybe other things).
