Stoke Newington Contemporary Music Festival 2015

Stoke Newington Contemporary Music Festival 2015

Dear friends,

Just a reminder about two events this weekend in The Old Church, Stoke Newington:

This year, SNCMF returns to its roots, with two contrasted events in the heart of the Stokey community. On Saturday 5th December we are delighted to welcome renowned experimental chamber choir the Vocal Constructivists (http://www.vocalconstructivists.com/) to the beautiful St Mary’s Old Church (http://theoldchurch.org.uk/). In an event titled ‘Non-objective Composition’, the Constructivists take the centenary of Kazimir Malevich’s Eight Red Rectangles as the starting point for a fascinating journey through contemporary Polish scores incorporating graphics and text instructions, tightroping the intersection of a cappella vocal performance and live art.

The previous day, Friday 4th December guitarist Francesco Mariani will be joined by our own Gina Fergione in an intimate programme of 20th and 21st-century music for voice and classical guitar – a perfect way to wind down for the weekend.
