Hackney Council wants your views on its Licensing Policy proposals

Dear Hackney Business

Hackney Council wants your views on its Licensing Policy proposals and we would like you to participate in the consultation.

We love the night-time economy – both as part of the rich cultural fabric of Hackney but also as a valued local employer and contributor to community safety via the Voluntary Night-time Economy Fund, Pub Watch meetings and other community projects.

It is routine for the Licensing Policy in a Borough to be reviewed and any proposals to be shared with the local businesses and residents for consultation.

The proposals would apply to new applications only. It is also worth noting that Licensing Policy is a permissive law, that means the policy is used as a guideline and exceptions can still be made based on your hearing with the Licensing Committee.

Your views as local businesses are extremely important and so we would urge you to respond with any evidence of how you think the proposed changes will affect your business both now and in the future.

Here are a few of sections of the proposed policy to note:

1. Special Policy Area extension in Shoreditch (see page 12)
2. Special Policy Area licensing hours in Dalston (see page 12)
3. The new borough wide hours policy (see page 15)

Find the proposed policy HERE

Please see hackney.gov.uk/licensing to share your views.
