News from our January meeting
Read the note of our last meeting
From the beginning of 2015 we are holding all our meetings on the second Saturday of every second month at 11am. The next meeting will be on Saturday 14th March 2015.
Thanks to everyone who turned up to our January meeting. You can find out what was discussed by reading the newsletter on our website. We have made a few changes to the website to make it easier for you to find important contact details. They are now on our home page.
In mid-February the Environment Agency will be undertaking an operation to eradicate top mouth gudgeon from the water bodies (the ponds and the New River) in Clissold Park. Topmouth gudgeon are one of the most threatening non-native invasive fish in Europe. Originally imported into the UK as an ornamental species, they eat the eggs of other fish, breed rapidly and out-compete our native fish for food and habitat.
The Environment Agency will be holding a meeting at 7pm on Thursday 5th February at the new Clissold Park Tennis Pavilion on Queen Elizabeths Walk, to answer any questions on the operation. Further information can be found here. If you wish to attend the meeting, please inform Bruce Irving, the park manager.
Concerns have been raised by dog walkers about the presence of dangerous dogs in the park following a number of dog on dog attacks in the park and in nearby streets. The user group is hoping to co-ordinate a meeting with the police and Council officers to see what can be done to address this problem. We will let you know when we have a date and location for the meeting.
Local ward forum
The Clissold Ward Forum will take place today, Thursday 29th January from 7pm to 8.30pm in the Howard Road Resource Centre, 6a Howard Road, N16 8PX. This is a chance to meet local councillors and raise local issues. The topic for the session is “Tackling Inequality in a Changing Borough”.
CPUG Annual General Meeting
We will be holding our AGM at 11am on Saturday 14 March just before our general meeting. We are looking for some new people to take on an active role in the group. If you are interested in putting yourself forward (or nominating someone else with their permission) for the elected posts of Chair, Vice Chair, Minutes Secretary and Treasurer for the coming year, please let us know by 7 March. There are also other ways in which you can get involved if there is something you are interested in doing for the user group.
