Astrakan host the latest of their monthly nights at Ryan’s Bar, welcoming Far Rainbow as their guests.

Far Rainbow are an improvising duo from London. The members are Emily Mary Barnett, a DJ and club promoter (No / Shindig) as well as a visual artist and theatrical set designer, with Bobby Barry, a writer and composer who created the pop group The Pipettes and the chamber ensemble A Little Orchestra. They use drums, percussion, synthesizers, electrical crackle, feedback, thunderstorms, plastic bags, paper, and echo.

Meanwhile, at some other point in the evening, Astrakan will be playing their contorted brand of jazz-infused psych-prog. They are Jerry Wigens on guitar, Ray Hardy on bass, saxes and keys, Celia Lu on vocals and keys and Dave Fowler on drums.

They have released two CDs, ‘Astrakan’ and ‘Comets and Monsters’ on the Jaguar Steps label.
