Black Top back tonight for instalment number 8 in their ongoing series. This time Pat Thomas and Orphy Robinson have Caroline Kraabel andRowland Sutherland along as guests. Tomorrow night Honalee presents the amplified piano of Klavikon – connecting the dots between Detroit Techno and Stockhausen, Cage et al… On Friday Samara Lubelski will debut a new set for solo violin alongside Tim Coster’s electronic miniatures.Saturday/Sunday/Tuesday are all bar nights with free entry if you just fancy hanging out and on Monday we host the launch of the new paperback edition of Ben Watson’s book on Derek Bailey and the story of free improvisation which promises “No panel, no book-reading, just Company-style ad hoc encounters between the most esemplastic free improvisors and word-manglers in town”.

New concerts online include Thurston MooreByron Coley and friends presenting a night of heliocentric duo exchange in August and a two day residency in September with legendary Dutch drummer Han Bennink – one of the originators of Free Improvisation and still one of the music’s most compelling proponents.
